Job Description

Position Title: Fire Technician

Location: Fort Saskatchewan, AB / Edmonton, AB

Responsibilities:

Inspect, maintain and repair all the breathing air systems on site. These include SCBA, SABA, Breathing Air Trailers, Breathing Air Carts, Breathing Air Compressors and all associated equipment.

Keep an inventory of parts and equipment and order as necessary.

Monitor equipment for service and hydro dates, ensure all dates are current.

Keep active maintenance and inventory records on company databases.

Inspect, maintain and repair all Fire Extinguishers on site.

Keep an inventory of parts and equipment and order as necessary.

Monitor equipment for service and hydro dates, ensure all dates are current.

Keep active maintenance and inventory records on company databases.

Inspect and maintain all Portable Gas Detectors on site.

Keep an inventory of parts and equipment and order as necessary.

Monitor equipment for service and expiry dates, ensure all dates are current.

Keep active maintenance and inventory records on company databases.

Inspect and maintain Fire Water System on site. These include Deluge, Sprinkler, Hydrants and Monitors and all associated equipment.

Keep an inventory of parts and equipment and order as necessary.

Monitor equipment for service dates, ensure all dates are current.

Keep active maintenance and inventory records on company databases.

Complete reports, open Work Order Request for repairs.

Respond to Trouble and Supervisory signals on Fire Alarm Systems. Determine the cause and complete reports, open Work Order Request for repairs.

Respond to concerns on Fire Protection Systems. Determine the cause complete reports, open Work Order Request for repairs.

Perform inspections under direction as per the Safety Codes and complete reports, open a Work Order Request for repairs.

Perform Inspections on the Emergency Rolling fleet, complete reports, open Work Order Request for repairs.

Perform Inspections on the Emergency Fire Fighting Equipment, complete reports, open a Work Order Request for repairs.

Assist with ERT and ES training.

Assist with EOC drills.

Assist with Fire Drills.

Perform Inspections on the Emergency Medical Equipment, complete reports, open a Work Order Request for repairs.

Perform Inspections on the Emergency Haz - Mat Equipment, complete reports, open a Work Order Request for repairs.

Assist Emergency Services as required, provide shift coverage if needed.

Assist with project assignments.

Any other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Must perform duties in accordance with company’s safety rules and regulations.

Must be proactive in attending Safety meetings and any other meetings as required.

Training will be provided to perform the necessary skills – successful completion is mandatory.

Must keep all work areas clean.

Lifting of SCBA, Extinguishers or objects of similar weight is required.

Team Player – must work well within a group athmosphere.

Preferred Qualifications:

NFPA10 Certified Fire Extinguisher Tech

Breathing Air Technician

Additional Qualifications would be an asset:

NFPA 1001 or NFPA 1081

EMR registered with Alberta College of Paramedics

NFPA 472 Operations

Sprinkler Fitter

Training will be provided where required
