Our west end distribution client is in need of a team lead for their day shift receiving team.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: •Assign duties, train and assist, coach, develop, motivate, and lead team members to ensure team performance meets or exceeds commitments of our service promise to customers, and expectations of productivity, quality, and safety •Demonstrate, live, and support company Performance Drivers and Values •Foster a safe work environment of respect, consideration, open honest interaction, fun, and full participation in team meetings and activities with a winning attitude •Recognize, develop, and implement continuous improvement opportunities/ideas and encourage team members to do the same •Coach and support team members, ensuring they are accountable for actions and work as a team •Collaborate with team members, leadership, customers and vendors to resolve concerns, discuss customer requests, etc. •Provide feedback to Team Supervisor about team members by informally evaluating performance on a daily basis and formally on a semi-annual basis •Work collaboratively as a member of the leadership team •Cultivate an environment of collaboration and team work •Contribute to a safe work environment, protecting self and others from potential harm •Maintain cleanliness standards of warehouse and own work area •Accountable for understanding and promoting company policies, practices, procedures •Follow safety policies, procedures of Occupational Health & Safety Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, and WHMIS EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: •Proven leadership and interpersonal skills in order to provide clear communication while providing direction and training and motivating team members •Demonstrated focus on “wowing” the customer (internal/external people focus and commitment to achieving results •Established track record of willingness and commitment to challenge self to learn, develop and grow •Must lead by example with a winning attitude •Strong proficiency in the English language - both written and oral communication •Strong mathematical aptitude •Thorough knowledge of logistics distribution and warehouse maintenance •Basic computer knowledge including WMS (Warehouse Mgmt. Systems) applications & MS Office acumen •Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent work experience •Ability to use sound judgment to assess and prioritize workplace demands in a fast paced environment •Knowledge of dangerous goods and WHMIS regulations an asset •Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis •Must have own transportation 2 shifts currently available. Monday-Friday. 7am-3:30pm or 10am-6:30pm. Some overtime during peak seasons including weekends. $1725/hr. depending on experience.
